We cannot wait until Thursday 9th September to see as many visitors as possible at our EMCON show. With Stadler as our headline sponsor, the event will bring together the north east’s manufacturers and engineering businesses into one location for an exhibition that will demonstrate regional excellence.
EMCON and its show owner, the Engineering & Manufacturing Network, are proud to have been a part of this journey since Stadler’s first involvement in the tender for the contract to supply new trains for the Tyne and Wear Metro several years ago.
In the morning, the Swiss rail builder alongside Nexus will give a presentation on their plans to develop a resilient local supply chain to support their £362m contract. In the afternoon, it will host a meet-the-buyer event, enabling prospective suppliers to sit down for individual, face-to-face sessions with the Stadler team. Their exhibition stand will be manned by a local managers, who will be on-hand to talk to anyone interested in the business or working with them.
As well as manufacturing new trains for the Tyne and Wear Metro and maintaining them for 35 years, Stadler will be constructing a new £70m state-of-the art maintenance depot at Gosforth to accommodate them. The building work is well underway, but remains an operational depot for the existing fleet.
The show gives delegates the chance to engage with peers at a large scale networking event, with opportunities to meet new suppliers and customers in a relaxed setting. It goes without saying that measures have been put in place to ensure that the event is Covid-safe for attendees.
Sessions hosted by the North East Maintenance Forum, which shares best practice for manufacturers, will take place in the morning.
